A Flow Sensor Switch is appropriate for an application where you require water flowing through a pipe should be the determining factor in activating your injection pump and is also particularly appropriate to use with a Dual Purpose Well (which means your well is used for both irrigation and for potable - drinking - water in your house).
If you are using your well for irrigation only, you can use your well pressure switch or pump start relay as your power source for your GrassSoGreen fertilizer injection pump, and you do NOT need to install a flow sensor switch or a pump start relay.
If you are using city water to water your lawn, a pump start relay connected to the pump start circuit on your irrigation controller is probably your most cost effective way of activating your injection pump.
A pressure sensing flow switch allows the GrassSoGreen fertilizer concentrate to be injected ONLY into the irrigation portion of your water system when installed according to instructions, without contaminating water going into your house. If your well is used ONLY for irrigation, this switch is NOT neccesary.
Grid Control Model 210 One Inch Flow Switch (shown without plug option). Your Rid-O-Rust (110-115 volt) Pump just plugs (standard wall type plug) directly into the flow sensing Flow Switch (with plug option), which turns the Rid-O-Rust injection pump on automatically when the well pump starts pumping water for irrigation use (plug box is optional and not shown in photo). The upper plug in the optional plug box is controlled by the flow switch and intended as the power source for your Rid-O-Rust injection pump which you plug into the upper plug of the optional plug box. The lower plug provides an extra plug with continuous power for auxilary uses such as lights or tools.
Important - you MUST install a backflow device (whatever your jurisdiction requires) such as a spring-loaded check valve, dual check, PVB, ect., upstream of your injection fitting to prevent any possibility of Rid-O-Rust concentrate entering your house water supply. The backflow device is responsible for preventing any possibility of chemical entering your house water while your irrigation system and Rid-O-Rust pump is operative.
A flow switch is appropriate only in situations where your well is controlled by a pressure switch AND is used for BOTH drinking water in the house AND for landscape irrigation. It allows you to isolate and inject Rid-O-Rust treatment solution ONLY into the irrigation portion of your system when installed according to instructions.
