Rainbird SPXFLEX Series Extra Flexible Swing Pipe is intended for use with Rainbird Spiral Barb Fittings. The Extra Flexible SPX pipe is softer than normal swing pipe, is just about impossible to kink and is easier to grip in order to insert a barb fitting, because it isn't as slippery as regular swing pipe.
Early reports however, seem to indicate that installers have a preference for the stiffer standard tubing, saying it is easier to shove onto barb fittings particularly if conditions are wet.
For use with Spiral Barb Fittings as a flexible swing joint assembly for mounting heads in high-traffic arreas or for making short runs from pvc pipe lateral to the head location. The Rainbird flexible and extra flexible swing tubing will fit both Rainbird and Toro barb fittings. The Toro Super Funny Pipe will also do the same - fits both Toro and Rainbird Barb fittings.
